Biography

Al McCone – Engagement Lead, WorkSafe

After spending his youth working on farms and in the rural sector, Al McCone completed his Master’s Degree in Psychology at the University of Canterbury, and then joined the army.

Over the next 30 years, Al filled many positions including Chief HR Officer for the NZ Army and Commandant of the NZ Defence College.  Al was deployed to Bougainville as the Senior New Zealand Officer, and also served in East Timor.

Al became Human Resources Manager for Landcorp Farming Ltd in 2011.

In September 2014, Al joined WorkSafe, where he acts as a conduit between the agriculture sector and WorkSafe.
