Biography

David Bennett – Member of Parliament, Spokesperson for Agriculture, Horticulture and Biosecurity.

David is a Member of Parliament and represented the Hamilton East electorate from 2005 to 2020. He is the current spokesperson for Agriculture, Horticulture and Biosecurity. David also served as the Chair of the Primary Production Select Committee, advocating for primary industry stakeholders in the face of Government legislation.

David’s priority in his spokesperson roles is to engage with the primary sector and set out how Central Government can help the sector grow for years to come. Farmers and growers have suffered under this Government’s perception of agriculture. David wants to see a government that genuinely values its farmers and growers and provides the community support needed to grow and develop their business. David is very keen to see more women in the primary sector and supports the concept of inter-generational farming businesses.

David is looking forward to engaging with growers and the wider horticulture sector in the coming months and is passionate about supporting businesses to thrive.”
